Replacing old car batteries with gel batteries out of a UPS. Apologies for the wind noise - it was one of those sunny, but windy days and this side of the house catches the wind most. Guess I need a proper camera and microphone (with one of those furry covers).
I hate to be a party pooper but………….
1. You actually only have around a 45-50 AH Pack as you will wreck them if you go below 50%
2. You should have used a fuse on each battery or at least split them up and fuse them. If one of those packs fail you could have a fire under your window.
Just an observation. No one wants to see you get hurt – We would lose our source of wife related jokes 😉
So much batteries 😍
16 people caught a cold from all of that wind muffling the audio in the video. 😅
Do you still use these batteries today? I do not know which batteries I should get to set something like you have up.. So how did you manage to get those batteries from the schools upses? xD I cant find any second hand batteries :/
that wind has done my head in
Should use Vaseline or electrical grease on each of the bolts and nuts to help protect against corrosion. Otherwise great battery bank.
do you sell the pwn charge controllers
Why do you leave your metals exposed to the rain, snow and what not? Edit: ah I see you've decided to cover them a bit.
where did you get 8 of them from, how much did they cost all up?
Okay so I know this video is really old, but if they are Gel batteries, they will hardly work below 0 C. My guess is they are AGM batteries, a common mistake since they are both dry cells. AGM=Higher current draw, wider temp acceptance. Gel=higher capacity, longer overall lifespan.
nice video, though your battery wiring and shed
are awful
you'ill wanna go with copper cable.
