    Having worked with an absurd number of various kinds of circuit boards over several decades which were in a wide variety of equipment, I noticed that during the earlier days of computer stuff there were a lot of those edge connectors in use. Later on, they all seemed to change to pin-type connectors. Think early vs. late floppy drives, or hard disk drives. I still have some cabling around here for some of the older stuff that I'll probably never use. ๐Ÿ™‚ My recollection of those edge connectors was that there were three common spacings: 0.100", 0.125", and 0.156", with that last one being the most common. There were others, I'm sure.

    well as much as ''everyone'' seems to love jlpcb i dont have a clue what happened to my first order… all it says is check tracking and gv011758715gb seems to be my tracking number but after 2 weeks it still says '' No information about your package, Package has not been sent yet or you entered invalid tracking number. '' – so 2 weeks in and i dont have a clue if i will ever see them. think i need to try somewhere else and just write off 2 weeks of waiting – or is it the usual performance from them?

    Gawd Julian, an Ebay cheapie dig caliper can surely be better – I bought one such, and it's as accurate as my 'proper' Mitutoyo one :o)

    I have an arduino led project which I'd like to produce as a low volume production. Many of the websites offer manufacturing but not pcb design and component procurement. Do you know a company that will design and produce the component? Or a freelance to design and then select the manufacturer?

    Last I've eared, it 1.2mm with the copper on both side and 1.6mm with copper on both side. The substrate alone should be less.

    On JLCPCB, if I choose the ENIG finish, do i have to choose the gold finger option as well or is it just to provide chamfers on the edges? Because for a game boy cartridge pcb, since they are so thin, single sided edge connectors and aligned with the back plastic shell, I believe the chamfer itself is not needed.

    I cant remember which channel it was on, but it was one of the retro games ones. The modern ROM cart boards they were producing, they found it better to leave solder-mask 'creep' over the fingers a bit, especially around the area where the track meets the pad of the finger, as the sharp corner was susceptible to corrosion, and they were getting open circuit faults at that point. The issue was easily solved by editing the edge connector component in Eagle, and leaving a mm or so of solder-mask in that area when removing it for the connector.

    why would you remove soldermask on the "fingers"? any specific technical reason? cant think of anything….
