Excellent vid, thanks a bunch! Any chance of a follow up after 4 years of use? Really interested in your opinion on effiency and effectiveness in your setup etc… Cheers
Is this heater still working good? I haven't seen one of these heater mounted with the exhaust going out horizontal.
Wrong way Installation of diesel heater.if you want to put it in side and not vertical the red sensor must be on the top…..
Does it run well mounted sideways? Many other tutorials have it mounted with exhaust down, any help appropriated.
When you "came back" after coloring the housing, I laughed. Sorry. You said "Ya..right". It really does look good when you start. (Yes, I have done the exact same thing).
You can get spray paint for plastics. I know, you didn't have any and it would be a drive to the store, have to deal with the crowds and traffic and would cost money. You did the right thing! 😉
I just saw it. Your strain relief is far enough from your tin. The wire in the strain relief is untinned. Well done.
I think you all have it covered. Your wire will break if there is flex at the edge of a tinned section. Soon! Just look at power wall warts. Strain relief. No solder in the cable except deep in the housing of the transformer. Stranded copper wire. No solder/tinning where the wire flexes.
Glycol (glycerine) is a biodiesel manufacturing waste material. Very inexpensive, I would be curious to see if this heater would run on it as it's extremely cheap and renewable also. Formula E electric race cars are using it to power their charging diesel generators, look it up on Google. The only caveats being they have to warm the engines up on diesel first, and also that glycerin (glycol) has only 70% of the energy potential.
You build stuff temporary that is better than others build for "permanent". (The outside shelter.)
what I want to see is a water heater conversion for your vehicle.
so it preheats the engine and stuff.
that would be nuts 🙂
Why don't you crimp the wires into the terminals to avoid the problem of the solder flooding over the spade?
How come some videos attract every tedious pedantic armchair expert on the planet (possibly other planets) – and some don't……..
Voice of Ralph on the fast show
IF you are ever having trouble sleeping just vent the exhaust hose directly into your bedroom and seal up the doors and windows. You feel nice and warm and sleepy in about 20 minutes! I make no promises to you sleeping through your alarm the next morning
Why not crimp?
Arrrrg 2nd video an we still haven't seen it running 🏃
Hi , you're Glow plug might foul up , I have read if mounting the heater on it's side as you have , the Glow plug should be at the top , your one looks like it is at the bottom , have you tested the heater yet ?
