Review of Lensun's 160W folding solar panel.
I am currently I the middle of a warranty claim on a 200w flexible panel from these guys (Lensun Solar) that I had mounted to the roof of my RTT since may2023 (its AUG 2023 @ time of writing). Maybe it will get better but currently I have not been impressed, my issue hasn't been resolved, and the panel just up and quit working. No visible damage. Just stopped working.
Late to the party๐.
Great review๐๐พ
Great bit of kit !, just bought one for my off grid van , I have a split charge system but this keeps my two 110 w battery's topped up!
Oo
Every single shade make difference
How many wooots…. whatโs a woooot?
A bit price have you seen those dokio one they are like half the price
That controller its better for lithium batteries. It has a lot of power lose. Mppt 7210 its not an eficient mppt. Its losing about 20% of you power coming in. Its a cheap mppt. You need to instal EPEVER OR RENOGY. THEY WILL GIVE YOU NEARLY 30% MORE POWER. PANELS ARE GOOD, BUT THATS NOT A PULSE CONTROLLER FOR LEAD ACID. IT DOESNT MATCH THE NEEDING OF LEAD ACID WICH ITS REJECTING THE CHARGE WHEN ITS NOT THE RIGHT MPPT. YOU ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL in solar kits.
I bought a lensun 100 watt fiberglass backed panel 2 years ago directly from the
lensun facility in China for use on my boat. I paid more for the best panel
they offered in hopes that it would give long and efficient service. I placed
it securely on top of the Bimini where it stayed until now.ย
I recently noticed that it wasn't producingย power and that my batteries were
drained.ย Since the batteries were isolated the panel had obviously not
been producing power for some time.ย From purchase to discovery of failure
the time span was….yep….2 yrs 2months.ย 2 months past their warranty even though
in all likelihood the panel failed well within the warranty period.ย
After a week or two of back and forth with lensun in China they instructed me to test
the diodes, remove the diodes, test the internal connections, etc…take
pictures of the multi-meter readings, take pictures of the mounting, take
pictures of the label on the back of the panel, re-solder, and use such and such
product to re weatherproof the housing and on and on.
When I brought the panel home to conduct these tests I discovered what the problem was.ย ย When
the panel was flat the multi-meter read 0 volts. When I bent it slightly it read
13+ volts. Lay it back down it went back to 0.ย That's a pretty good
indication that the circuit is broken inside the panel itself.
I sent them a video of this and they immediately responded and stated that they
wouldn't honor the 2 year warranty on the panel but happily suggested I buy
another panel from them at a slight discount.ย I essentially told them
that I would be stupid to pay almost 300 dollars for ANOTHER panel that would
likely fail in two years.
I realize now that they weren't going to honor the warranty
anyway.ย But that didn't stop them from asking me to do their
troubleshooting for them.ย One last thing…if you doย have the
misfortune of having to communicate with this company do it via email because
their reps are difficult to understand over the phone.ย Well that is my
experience with lensun.
Do with it what you will….
Hi Julian, Im looking for some solar cells, approx 150-185mm long by 40-60mm wide. Preferably 6v, can you recommend any please?
I want to know what the two 80 watt panels were doing during the test. Were they better performing, same or worse?
Did you get this for free for a review ?
Actually it's good that it has four separate parallel panels that way if one panel gets shaded the other three still works or what not…๐
But can it bike tour?
