What are the issues if I charge a bank of supercapacitors from a buck/boost converter with no anti-backfeed diode?

Julian, your usine a blue double sided screwdriver to adjust the volt trim pot. What is the name of that screwdriver and where did you get it from?
Hello Julian. Thankd=s for your Anti Backfeed Test. Its quite interesting. Have you made a video for testing Zenar Diode to the LTC3780 to prevent back feed into the LTC3780. I will love to see your test result on that topic.
I tried this using a buck boost RUIDENG DPH3205 charging a battery. Worked fine without a diode until I shut the power supply off. As soon as I disconnected the power it fried my converter. Not sure if that would happen with all of them but it did mine. I ended up buying another one but will always use a diode when charging batteries or caps.
Is it safe to use as a bench adjustable power supply ?what extra ckt should be added to make it safe?
I have facing this problem
Output side reverse voltage damage mosfet and cu traces
I've heard (and tested) that electrolytic & supercapacitors actually regain voltage after being discharged. Could that be the problem?
Does the LTC3780 still maintain proper constant current with a short circuit? Unlike other typical boost converters.
Julian, remember that engineering is the avoidance of failure, and failure is not an option. I would still use a diode.
After some info can't find one of yr videos
I'm trying to power 12x 1W LED's in series OR parallel using a 12v PSU
Can you please link me to yr video thank you in advance
You know you've been watching a lot of Julian videos when you start your work meetings with "Good morning/afternoon all".
Time for some decent Pomona test leads: 3782-36-x where x = 0 (black) or 2 (red), length 36". If you like those and need smaller get a pair with the micro grabbers but they're not nearly as durable.
With all this super capacitor experimentation, what is everyone doing with them? What is the big picture plan. How about a system diagram of your solar power system?
About backfeed: If its not reverse polarity backfeed and if there is no resistive drop across + and – and the voltage does not exceed the rated voltages, it should have little or no effect right? If you feed 12v in the correct polarity to a 12v power supply then there should be no major issue since it's rated for 12 volt to be there anyway.
