My PowerAdd Pilot X7 powerbank failed - the torch LED is permanently on, the switch is unresponsive and there's was a burning smell when I connected a charge lead. This teardown was needed because I couldn't turn the torch LED off.

I got that problem on my cheap Sony head phones. The blue led stays on for some reason. But I can still charge it up.
I guess just cut the wire cut the led off.

I have a question. What company produced the batteries inside? I had exactly the same type of powerbank. And I suffered the exact same thing. After serving me at least 5 years with a loss of max 20% of capacity I made the mistake of charging it with a fast charger, that burned it. I am very sad. It was the best and most sustainable powerbank. But … I took the batteries and mounted them in another power bank where the batteries lasted only 2 years. It works perfectly and I hope it will last me another 2-3 years.
What if,.., i load the powerbank with his own power? 🙄 so, the mini usb and the usb at the other end of that cable in the same block te same time 😋 ..curious
I knew this was junk.

Looks like a ravpower 16750 mah in the thumbnail
I have this power bank and it doesn’t charge anything or even charge itself
Just a random guess but maybe one or 2 of the cells died and tried to discharge the other cells and the bps couldn't manage the current between cells and burnt out. I know bugger all but I'd test each cell individually 1st.
