Every time you do anything with solar panels, there is ALWAYS some cloud related issue, it winds me up! Other than that, keep up the good work and keep the videos coming.
I bought the Lensun 100 watt fiberglass backed panel 2 years ago directly from the lensun facility in China for use on my boat. I paid more for the best panel they offered in hopes that it would give long and efficient service. I placed it securely on top of the Bimini where it stayed until now.ย I recently noticed that it wasn't producingย power and that my batteries were drained.ย Since the batteries were isolated the panel had obviously not been producing power for some time.ย From purchase to discovery of failure was….yep….2 yrs 2months.ย 2 months past their warranty even though it in all likelihood the panel failed well within the warranty period.ย After a week or two of back and forth with lensun in China they instructed me to test the diodes, remove the diodes, test the internal connections, etc…take pictures of the multi-meter readings, take pictures of the mounting, take pictures of the label on the back of the panel, re-solder, and use such and such product to re weatherproof the housing and on and on. When I brought the panel home to conduct these tests I discovered what the problem was.ย ย When the panel was flat the multi-meter read 0 volts. When I bent it slightly it read 13+ volts. Lay it back down it went back to 0.ย That's a pretty good indication that the circuit is broken inside the panel itself.ย I sent them a video of this and they immediately responded and stated that they wouldn't honor the 2 year warranty on the panel but happily suggested I buy another panel from them at a slight discount.ย I essentially told them that I would be stupid to pay almost 300 dollars for ANOTHER panel that would fail in two years. I realize now that they weren't going to honor the warranty anyway.ย But that didn't stop them from asking me to do their troubleshooting for them.ย One last thing…if you doย have the misfortune of having to communicate with this company do it via email because their reps are difficult to understand over the phone.ย Well that is my experience with lensun.
I bought this item off of Ebay but soon found out I had to fill out IRS forms to prove I was not a company plus three other forms (PDF's) and send all documents to DHL bc it was shipped from Hong Kong. I thought it was too much personal information going to other people i didn't know. The DHL shipping agent said to blackout all personnel information. I refused so the Lensun solar shade got shipping back to China. Then Lensun sent one from Amazon to complete purchase. Opening "complete kit" I noticed there were no cables or controller. I went back to description and read down all the way at bottom to see it said panels only, not obvious at all. Lensun said to order controller and cables with no part numbers just sent two pictures. After many emails to agents in China, different time zones, they finally sent what I should buy, purchased two items then all is fine right? No, after purchasing cable I needed they said they are out and to order a different cable that cost $10 more. I had to ask where to send extra $10 then finally got a PayPal account to send it to, more emails. The new cables had to be adapted to controller so off to auto parts store to buy alligator clips, wire strippers too. This was a very painful experience taking over a month to finish purchase and set it up to work. Buyer beware, "complete kit" may not be completed. If it ships from Homg Kong you will have to fill out time consuming forms and mail or email shipping company like DHL. If they say buy other parts needed then you may have to buy it from Lensun website and not Amazon. Buy it from RV place instead and let them deal with
You need to get ahold of some Maxeon C60 type cells. Then you can try soldering up some panels without fear of snapping cells etc. They might be what's inside those flexible panels, I dunno, but they are quite forgiving and diy-friendly. I think you'd have so much fun combining them with some eva film and a heatgun and doing your panel yourself. 22% eff at slightly higher than normal cell voltage is also nice…
I'm fairly sure that's not a mppt controller? Just a pwm with a mppt sticker on it. Not that I would accuse the Chinese of false advertising ๐
Can it work 12volt battery???
This charge controller
Stupid mppt charger…

have you ever considered trying a hybrid system ???
