Where are all the single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) units? There don't seem to be many about.

what is the lowest voltage you can usefully run this at?
I use those led cob lights and run them at 11v and they run cool. Granted the output is lower but they will last. I have 8 of them daisy chained ( in parallel ) running on a 12v mains adapter an have used 2 diodes for a 1.2v voltage drop. Seems to work fine and have left them on for days at a time.
I bought some strips like that. To try out, I just shortly held the contacts against plugs of a 15V power supply (from a headphone amp), and a 12V power supply (from a DVD player). There seemed to be a lot of flicker, dunno if that came from just holding the contacts to the plugs. Are those kind of power supplies right for these strips, or should I get a different kind of supply which might avoid the flicker?
How much did that COG draw at 14.4? Just wondering, because they should not exceed something like 250-260mA. But since there is no amp limiter, was thinking of using 10ohm 5W resisotrs in front to limit current in the car use. Thinking of using them to serve as backup light under the doors when they open, and maybe in interior under the seats.

In a more helpful vein try the following. Play 501 darts against a competitor who keeps track of the scores What you have to do is get to the stage where you do the multiplications/additions and subtractions in your head for BOTH PLAYERS and do not write anything down. The game can then become your competitor asks in the middle of the game what the scores are. You should (and in practice will) be able to state immediately what figure both of you are on and be spot on every time.
