Next time you want to drive over a small, round item – do it with the driving wheels (your vehicle is front wheel drive) not a drag-behind wheel. Those little tires (tyres) aren't made for an obstacle course, even if the obstacle is smaller than a hen's egg in diameter.. Or send me the item and I'll drive over it with my pickup ๐
for a $130 flashlight. im glad i wont be doing this to mine
Useful video – I bought two and am very impressed with them! Are you on commission ๐
Interestingly I've been a subscriber for sometime now, watch almost all your videos and but for this video I probably wouldn't have bought them.
Guess this is the new route to market these days!

Well done Mate, enjoy all your videos. You could patent 'Blu-Tack' assisted tyres'. I'm over torches with non standard batteries and modifying unsafe Chinese chargers. Our weather bureau in Victoria Australia doesn't even have a window in their building, let alone accurately predict overnight rain. …… Thanks again.
I hope you appreciate my honest feedback: I thought the video was slow, tedious, and the car test was unnecessary and a bit meaningless.
1050 Lumens? Really? Have you checked the CREE datasheet? I suspect 750 might be nearer the mark, but I guess it is slightly more accurate than the "Max output Lumens: 2000 Lumens" claimed by the $2 el-cheapo (but almost identical) Chinese ebay number I just bought.
I haven't tried running mine over yet though, perhaps that's where the difference lies. I'm afraid I don't really subscribe to the dangerously bright torch fetish, I just need something to let me figure out where the heck the dog has vanished to on these long winter nights.
Other than my grumpy old fart remark above, I really enjoy Julian's channel, honest. Keep up the good work, and give that poor thing a respray with some black stove enamel :ยฌ)
So, being that you have so many freebie Thrunights… How about a givaway of the damaged 2016 version… Perhaps to the first person who suggests it? (i.e. me!) ๐
Do you think they are actually worth the money?
What's next? drive a tank over it? that would be interesting.
Ohh great! More Thrunite torches to add to the collection ๐
This reminded me terribly of how they used to test things on The Gadget Show.
Let's test how tough these phones are by dragging them behind a car on a dirt track for 10miles….and then put them in a paddling pool full of custard.
A drop test from 1m, 2m and 3m probably covers most actual uses.
Julian would you adopt me ….
I once buried my mini maglite by mistake, for two years, in the back garden :/ still worked fine when I unearthed it :/
I buy the cheap $10 eBay types.ย They can be problematic but not for guys like us who don't mind doing a repair now and then.ย Of 3, 1 had to have a new regulator board (couple bucks) and after some time (a year) the switch can become a little problematic.ย Been using them for over a year now and happy enough.ย For $10 you can always just order a new one next year if it get's too dificult to repair and still salvage a nice LED.ย I use them at work so they get pretty constant use and should last the average user some time.ย The real cost of these types of flashlights is a good intelligent charger and quality batteries.ย Spend your money on those.ย As in all eBay (China) purchases – ya pays your money ya takes your chances ๐
Poor Citroen, probably thought you were trying to take it off-road then ๐
Nice torch! Sure beats my Ledlenser P7.
I can't be the only one thinking lightsaber? ๐
I think impact tests would be a better indicator of how tough a flashlight is. I did an inadvertent "test" on my MTE flashlight. I left it on the roof of my car when I drove away. It fell off when I went around a curve at 40mph then it was run over by another car. I had a heck of a time finding it because it was dark and now I didn't have a flashlight. It ended up being much further down the road than I thought it would be and may have been run over by more cars while I was getting another flashlight. When I found it it still worked. Since it wasn't very expensive I tried some more tests. I threw it against a tree where it fell onto a brick path. Then I left it in a pan of water overnight. It still works.
