How profitable was this product? Am I now retired and living on a yacht in the mediterranean?

Julian, your innovation and clear narrative is sorely missed here in Cheltenham. Really enjoyed our adventures in the 1980s. Good luck with your yacht !
I liked parts one and two in this series but I was expecting more information in part 3.
Like who made your PCB and if routing is expensive why have so much or why not get the boards V scored instead, etc? How much work was involved dealing with the EU bureaucracy and legal considerations. Things like that.
such a honest person. sad i found him in 2020…
But you cant add cost of your own work because is is not a cost – IT IS A PROFIT. IF someone else did the job for you, then you could do another thing and still get even more profit 😉
This is one of your most interesting videos.
Why did you double route around the PCB's on the panel? A single routing pass is just fine.
Is that legitimate CE certification?
Julian if you made them using bulk manufacturing (pick and place) you could havce them manufactured for much cheaper OR you could sell them as kits!
I think that was a good experience to share. Though I dare say it was a painful experience for yourself in some ways.

I once got VAT registered and sold 1 unit of my current probe lol It was very interesting to hear about your experience thanks! Posting videos about projects seems like a better way to get some revenue from the associated Ads.
How did you get away with using lead solder? Isn't it illegal to sell products in the EEA with it now?
I think the idea was good. maybe the product didn't work so well but it doesn't say you should stop making them . try new thing . good luck ! and thank you for this tutorial
Pretty much my experience. Thanks for sharing, most informative. You forgot the Fleabay cost of selling… Between Fleabay & PayPal, that's a big chunk.
This series would make excellent course material for an electronics degree final year project. It clearly demonstrates all the aspects of a commercial project.
How difficult will it be to replace the PIC with Attiny?
Thanks for sharing the story! I think is always useful to hear about these kind of experiences, that from my point of view are not discouraging at all, beacuse it's not always about buying a yate :). To gain a reasonable wage doing what you love instead of working at a job you strongly dislike, is also an excelent goal!
