I thought there might be one interesting component inside this 'green' energy saving product.

Was interesting.
I have similar, they are mainly used to turn off Standby Mode on the TV which could add about £80.00 to the bill if on all the time; or with the increased costs of electric £176.00 a year saving
couldn't have been more destructive if you had hit with a hammer ! thumbs down on this one !
I guess the V8 and the V10 are for more powerful screwdrivers?
CR-V 6 refers to the tool being Chrome Vanadium 6mm, (The number indicates size).Though depending where the tool's origins are, it might not 'actually' be Chrome Vanadium.
Don't bin it, do a giveaway! I know I'd really like some of those bits. 🙂
It's not photo transistor. It's a receiver. Two legs for power, one leg output. It's actually an IC with all the filtering, amplifying and stuff
I'm pausing the video before you open the thing to try to make a wild guess. There is no fancy relay inside … unless it's rated for really low power – like 100 watts. But even then probably has solid state relay instead. Guess what. It's even worse. It's power supply is probably drawing 1-2 watts in standby mode. I'll continue the video to see if I'm right. I promise I won't delete the comment if I'm wrong 🙂
Don't throw anything out! Give it away or send it to viewers or something!
The devices marked T-FUSE on the PCB are thermal fuses.
One can wonder what the quiescent current of that device would be in standby.
Why did they waste so much copper with the cable to the Infrared LED? could have been super thin cable…
Don't write this device off, although I grant it would be a lot more useful if it also had unswitched (Freeview/Sky box) and switched (DVD) outputs like the Eon-branded OneClick Technologies one in use here.
It means the TV, which here has a rather user-unfriendly mains switch, can always be switched on with the remote but is never left in standby.
The desktop computer version is similarly useful – it detects when the PC switched off or in standby and powers down all the peripherals – printers, speakers etc.
