sir Julian Ilett
use microwave transformer battery spot welder, thats good done you solder your bus wire to battery and i do that, before i say it to you ^_^,.. goodluck of that sir,..
Hi Would really appreciate some follow up videos on "Manufacturing the PWM5 Solar Charge Controller #2" you really peaked my interest with the possible follow up videos that could be made about failures, economics and certification topics mention in the last 2 minutes of the video…. I think it might not just be me 😉
You should sign up with Nectar through eBay. Every 500 points will get you a £2.50 voucher and £1 = 1 point so you should be able to rack up those points reasonably quickly and use them on some items to play around with, though the minimum spend is £10 🙂
Just to mention. If you drive led lower wattage than rated, then efficiency increases dramatically. I tested 100W led: if you drive it just 50W vs 100W then you can get 27% more light per W. 20w = 57% more light per watt etc. You can test it with LUXmeter. LED voltage varies quite lot so actually you dont need expensive current control driver. Under 1$ dc-dc converter works just fine 😉
Normal 18650 cells will not last very long in a drill pack as they're rated at 0.5 – 1c max,so as long as you're drawing less than 1.2A most of the time from a 2400mah cell you should be ok. id be interested to know how much power a drill draws under load? these normal (Lithium Manganese Cobalt)18650 cells are good for about 500 – 1000 cycles depending how high you charge them to(every 0.1v less you charge them apparently doubles cycle life!)and also obviously how far you discharge them. I wonder if its worth looking into putting a LIPO battery in a battery pack, but obviously you'd need low cell monitoring and a different charger. The battery packs are a bloody ripoff! If they were cheap we wouldn't have to mess with them!
the cells in the batt pack are probably konion 18650 cells rated at 5-10c, i've bought a couple of refurbished battery packs on ebay, i think they just take out the broken cell and replace it from broken packs and resell it!
Julian, be very, very, Very careful with putting any heat near those cells, they could explode in your face if they get to hot in any place. Take care, simon.
I have a 10 watt led with exact the same vga cooler. Running the led on 100% the led gets to hot. Running at +- 80% with a pwm dimmer is fine. The fan running at 15 volts for extra speed.
postage is an odd aspect I've always wondered about the price/shipping for the item is covered in China -understood. Once shipped to UK – UK delivery picks up and delivers. If 50/50 between China/UK – no issue. If 99/1 China/UK then UK post loses. Or is there and end of year reconciliation?

I love "It's Postbag!"
Your channel is great. And you didn't even know I was in the process of sourcing some enclosures!
