After spending a colossal £55 on my new Arduino Yun, I successfully manage to upload a blinking LED sketch. But surely there's more to this board than the ability to upload sketches without wires.

I know this is a VERY old video, but have looked at the Iduino Yun Shields? I just ordered two at <£20 each, so I guess (in a few weeks) I'll find out.

Nice to run into these older videos, they were quit good, I had never seen this one, at least I don't recall seeing it, i am getting a bit up in age now and the meds that the doctors keep pumping into my aging frame do make my head a bit cloudy. I had thought about getting one of these but for that price I can get several Orange PI computers that run Linux and some come with built in Wifi and Bluetooth. While they are not as well developed as the Yun they are much more in my price range. Having just returned from out Winter diggs in Arizona only to find Winter still blowing and snowing like mid December here in the Dakota's I find that unpacking our RV and getting my toys will have to wait till the teps get above freezing before I can be reunited with my toys.

Thx for the Video. I was working on a project with Arduino Uno R3, and it gave me a hint for my University Project. 😀

this is interesting, i have been wanting to see how this works since i have found out about this, but i was not able to spend the 399.99 USD to get it, it is still over 100 USD now 3 years later.

When it comes to the leonardo side of the yun, I already guess what to expect. But I am wondering about the linino part. Is there stuff like sshd running and some shell like bash/sh/ksh, so a login via putty is possible and more stuff can be done via the linux side? Or is it just some pre configured stuff that allows some preset things but no else? Are you going to do some more about the apects of the linux side as well in the future? Detailed informations about the linino seem to be kind of sparse at this time for the YUN as well as for the TIAN board.
Apart from that, thank you very much for this first impression about the YUN!

    Fantastic !!!
Very well presented, very easy to follow this is how all youtube videos should be !!!
Keep up the excellent work, I will be following
    Many thanks

    More maybe?

Couldn't you do more for less with a Raspberry Pi 3? At £55 you could get a Pi and have £20 left over for other things. Also isn't the Pi a much more powerful board with quad core 1 GB ram, WiFi and Bluetooth not to mention 4 USB ports. I don't see the advantage of a Yun, perhaps you could explain the advantages.

Just ordered a Yun based on these videos – I'm looking forward to using it.

Hi Julian! I am a postgraduate researcher and working on monitoring some parameters remotely using Arduino Yun. I have tried configuring my Yun following the tutorial and I found it interesting and insightful. Are there any more tutorial videos that could be of help and possibly any mentoring from you? Thanks
