After a fair bit of experimentation, I've found that the 12v supply can be used as a shut-off signal for PWM dimming using this module's EN (enable) input.

    Btw, I noticed that chinese don't always put nice low ESR capacitors on switching power supplies. I think 2V is a little bit too much ripple. Well for LED it doesn't matter that much – you can't sense >=50kHz ripple, but I always try to minimize ripple. If you change the output capacitor with a good one you get really stable low ripple output.Most DC-DC converters on ebay use SMD capacitor which are pain to desolder but this one has TH.
