The sun is so low in the sky now that the lawn is in shade most of the day. I needed to get the solar panel up onto the fence mounted securely at the correct angle. Double slot shelving (spur shelving) works well for this.

Cable ties aren't going to last.
How are they today?
I've found great project for that on Avasva website.
Just executed a variant of this. On the bottom brackets, instead of using nylon ties, I drilled a hole through the bracket, through the eye of the eye bolt, and inserted a 1/4" (6.4mm) bolt all the way through. The way it ended up sitting in the top brackets, I wasn't able to do that, so I used nylon ties, but I've got half a mind to replace the nylon ties with hose clamps. I also used brackets of a type that have a sliding lock against the back, preventing them from popping out if lifted up somehow.
I think the mounting is sturdier than the fence at this point.
That's a really good solution -how's it held up over the years? Any issues with rust, or does the panel itself protect the mounting bracket?
get a drill bit tap and thread set and do it rite
Will this method also work with 240W 20kg panels?
I would use duct tape over those tie wraps.I used them last winter and the low temperature caused them to snap.
Like you say, it's unlikely all four would lift together. And then the panel would have to be pulled forward too. It's been OK so far.
Neat idea – never thought of using shelf brackets. Are you concerned that if the wind is such that the panel moves upwards (in a uniform manner, which is probably highly unlikely I realise!) that the arms might all come out of the uprights?
