Chose the PICkit2 programmer to develop some new code because it comes with the Low Pin Count Demo board and a 16F690 midrange device. The PICkit 1 is too old and too slow to use now and the PICkit3 has been put in Programmer-to-go mode and is only used to program my Solar Charge Controller chips.
Wrote a little program to test the controller's ability to differentiate between Power On Resets, Brown Out Resets and MCLR resets.

Julian, I hope you are still reading the comments these old video posted you made. I'm hoping you can help me with something. I have a pickit 3 and I can't get the target power to stay on for when using low pin count demo board I came with the starter kit. I'm using MPLAB X IDE 2.15 I think. And it seems that I can get the target power to turn on using that. But when I use the MPLAB IPE there is no target voltage coming out of the pickit 3 and MPLAB IPE cannot find the device. I even tried it in programmer to go mode. Using the MPLAB X IDE I can get the code loaded into the pickit 3 but I can't get it to keep the target power on for when using it as a stand alone and being plugged into a USB power source. I've tried to contact microchip but they not giving me any reply it's whatsoever. I'm hoping maybe you can help me with this.
