i think the fulcrum is just not where you think it is.

I view it more as a measuring cup. But would not replace my measuring cups for baking. Nice teardown, when I saw the strip, it was oh well the display is doomed, good reassembly.

Nothing handheld can weigh accurately. Tare as in tear up paper.

Could be worse. That spoon could have Internet connectivity! We could all guess what you're measuring at any time!! 🤣

    But can it run Doom?

One of the pads was marked vpp which is normally the programming voltage so it's quite possible that itcould be reprogrammed via several pogo pins , which could be used for factory testing or changing some internal parameters 🙂

Looks like you trapped a wire under the hold button, but I'm sure you're able to rectify that easily.

I wouldn't call this a regular spoon, just because you're not likely to use it for the intended purpose of a spoon, which is eating. I'd call it a measuring spoon, much like a measuring cup but smaller, so its intended purpose is different. And they've modified its function to include a scale in the same form factor, which definitely shifts its purpose more to the measuring side than the spoon side.

And as with all things that combine functions, usually something suffers. In this case, it doesn't look terribly ergonomic or precise for measuring volumes. I definitely think you'd be better off with a set of measuring spoons and a separate scale.

I like it. But I'm a sucker for pointless devices with displays. LOL.

These things are now quite ubiquitous. I view them as rather handy for ingredient measuring and have no issue with it at all. You wouldn't dare do this in the time period that you showed the picture from, as it would cost a fortune. It's just a product of the computing power today being so cheap. Yes, it is a computer I believe. It has input, output, and calculation, thereby making it a bona fide computer, however simple.

It's more of a scale with a small attached bowl in the shape of a spoon.
