Finally got round to changing the inductor. The new one has a much larger ferrite ring and thicker enamelled copper wire. But the results are disappointing.

hey julian. are u able to make it work? how can we make it like 30amp controller?
and are you going to make a "how to" tutorial video?

why not included in the arduino mppt solar charge controller playlist

would putting a capacitor across the large inductance coil reduce the large ringing?

    hi Julian Ilett
is there any update about the code and the circuit?
    thanks in advance….

If this is the muppets, are the china MPPTs generally Ms piggy?

put a snubber circuit across your mosfet. Won't ring as much

    just use smaller ferrite core

is this project dead ? did you finish the battery float control ?

I have two old 12v 14w solar panels they have 21v no load. To get full use of them , I try to make a julethief with a large coil . The power comes from the solar panel through a transistor through the coil and through the battery when the coil is charged the transistor turns off the power from the solar panel and the energy in the coil now come down into the battery and transistor afterwards turns on again. I do not have any control over the voltage of the battery it is not as smart, maybe if I have a 100 amp battery maybe it is ok

im also interested to know if you have continued with this.

Did you put any kind of snubber in parallel with mosfet?

Ahh, summer, Ok. Very interested in this project Julian, as I am sure many are. How are your plans for moving to Spain coming along? =)
