Hi Julian, I love watching your videos. Always super informative. I've scoured the internet looking for an explanation of how "Twinkly" is getting away with addressable LED controls across a 2-wire circuit. I think this would make for a great video for you to dive into! Thanks for all the great content.

2021 Update: They are actually selling christmas tress with addressable versions preinstalled. Not just color controlled, but full independently addressable leds.

I am looking at the rising dragon tech led lights. They are also 2 wire. That's how I found your video.

So I’ve been doing research as well on this kinda led, I have some leds that are individually controlled on only two wires. One wire in the led and one wire out. I believe it using the same kinda data down the power but I can’t find anything about them online yet. I have a controller that takes dmx and converts it to run these addressable leds. But I want to know more. 😂 I know with my leds they’re using a QED3110 chip and I can’t find anything useful on that either.

I wonder if this is the same LED used in the “Twinkly” lights

I bought this exact same string light just to figure out how they could control RGB by two wires. I suspected pulse width modulation, but haven't seen anything like this before.

The power supply switches neutral and live back an forth to change the colour of the LEDs
