Cover version of the song Drive by the Cars. Recorded in home studio back in 1986. Lots of sampled 'ah's cos we just built our own sampler. Julian Ilett singing , Brett Gossage instrumentation. Photos are of Malaysia, Hong Kong, a 1 week gliding course, members of my family and a picture of my house taken with a balloon.
Thanks for directing me here Julian. I only have it on compact cassette. You and Brett did this on a Tascam 4 track analogue portastudio if I remember correctly? The take I have has a different lead vocal.
Curiosity led me to scroll back to your first youtube & what did I find but this fabulous cover. Fantastic!, and an amazing collection of videos. Thank you.
This is on my playlist in my car now, I came for the mosfet tutorials and stayed for the great cover version 😂😂
bollocks – no way you sang this! would never have known if i hadnt stumbled upon this video. what gear did you use?
Well done julian
That's stellar, mate! And that lass should be my age now.
Beautiful. Enough said.
Love that track it brings back happy memories of the late 1980's. Thanks for posting
Great Job and you sounded just like him.
Bloody brilliant!
From this to the penny organ? Oh deary, deary, life is a downhill slope… I'm taken aback, and I'll bet you've got a very good tenor or baritone voice these days. Sing us another song Jules!! Don't be shy!! How about a Christmas number "Chestnuts roasting on an LED…" ?
Oh my god, that song brings back so much memories. In July 85, my sister called at work to tell me my wife's water just broke and that my son was about to be born. That song was playing on the radio on my way to the hospital.
Brilliant cover. Your voice sounds amazing. Almost identical to Benjamin Orr's voice.
Are they your vocals Julian? If so I must say your very talented indeed….beautiful version of a beautiful song…
What a beautiful cover!
I just have to say, that's a pretty epic cover! To be honest, had you not said it was a cover, I would have happily listened to it without realising it wasn't actually The Cars! Well done you!
