Just 55p on eBay (about $0.77), this 16340 lithium-ion cell is cheap and nasty. Just 288mAh measured capacity and a high internal resistance of 260 milliohms. Don't buy it!

After testing the capacity of the batteries, I always ask for a refund. One hopes that they'll eventually advertise the correct capacity.

ThanksI'm looking for a Battery Tester for my Camera batteries? would that one work? what is it, Brand Name/Model? can it test other Batteries types to?

We see these naf cells all the time on ebay. Do you think this could possibly be some sort of strategic Chinese racket where some con artist get's 10,000 units made falsely marked and then set's up a number of sellers to start them on a really low price and then gradually brings the price up as purchases build? And then hopefully before the masses catch on it's a fake, the price is high enough and the batch is all gone (or at least in the post) so that the con artist has made a handy profit? There's gotta be some game to this right?

How confident are you in that capacity measure? What voltage does the charger drop the cell to? Though not likely to hit 1000mAh, since many quoted capacities are based on a 2.8V discharge and even high-dollar lithium cells' capacities are almost always quoted based on 200mA charge / discharge (and that for larger 18650 cells which can handle the higher current densities), this test isn't going to come anywhere close to the rating.

could you do a video on a 18650 battery

not related to this specific video, but when reviewing products with usb output(solar charger 3wks ago for example), could you give us the voltage on the data lines? also how many power supplies do you own and what do you do with them? do you have a little room in your house with only stacks of power supplies?

It's delicious irony that Chinese eBayers are selling charger/testers that equip buyers to prove categorically that Chinese lithium cells are, as you say, "cheap and nasty!"

Ive found a good place for cheap Li Ion cells (namely 18650s) is to buy cheap replacement laptop batteries and pull them apart. Sure they are still cheap cells but they always tend to at least be honest about capacity and be brand new cells. Unlike the Trustfire/Ultrafire and other rubbish which tends to be old worn out cells with new labels stuck on them and insane capacities.
Capacity seems to be about 2200mah per cell (at least for the ones ive bought) And ive got some which have round 100 cycles on them and still seem to be going strong. Not bad when i paid $25 for a 12 cell replacement pack for a HP laptop.

"you get what you pay for".

Well the price immediately doubled after you bought it.
So buy it again now, to confirm that the capacity has indeed doubled along with the price.
