The 90SQ035 is alarmingly temperature dependent when it comes to reverse leakage current. But it is thermally the right way round for use as a solar blocking diode.

some day someone would find this interesting and here I'm.
thank you for the quality content.
That make it horrible for using it in Bootstrapping of mosfet.. so Bootstrapping would be much dependent on the ambient temperature.. how can you stabilize it ?
Good video. I was going to use some schottky diodes in a bridge rectifier, but now I'm really put off by what mischief they could get up to in a warm environment like a PSU.
Well done, which Diode is better than this one temperaturewise ? How hot did you heat that diode up ? Probably 200 degrees Celsius , right ? This will probably never happen in real usage when it is connected to a solar panel, right ? How much is the threshold voltage on this diode ? Just 0.3 Volts or more or lower ??? Many thanks. Regards, Stefan.
Never knew about that. Thanks for sharing. I am testing now capacitors leakage and soon move on the the diodes. Just so I make myself an idea 🙂
Have you tried this test with other diodes? Even perhaps a normal rectifier diode like a 1N4001 for comparison? The leakage getting away like that does suggest that another use for this diode could well be as a temperature sensor. By the looks ov your results it would be quite a simple circuit to say use this diode to turn on a heatsink fan for instance. 🙂
Sorry about my spelling it's the predictive typing.
It would of been intresting t have had a temp probe at the side if the diode to check temps it was warming to ,I think it would of much more than the sun would of hit it with ,well that us just me guessing ,also could you do a similar vid on an n series to maybe show the comparisons if you get time .it would be intresting to see pros and con of both .
