Hatfield is part of the North Penn School District. We actually got to play with these well before everyone else, as they tested them in our schools.
Having worked in the plastics industry, most machinery's default measurement is metric, perhaps that is the answer. The next time I am in the area, I'll stop in and ask them.
dunno, use both.. metric for measurement in the thousands.. construction and stuff millimetres of course.. but inches for television, or miles for sea miles.. living in the Netherlands by the way.. we are a bit weird…
hi julian, It's a pleasure o hear an english accent at last, you couldn't tell me if there are any sites where electronic hobbyists can locate like minded folks in their own area (or even country) could you, I'dd very much appreciate it as I've know one to bounce experiment, results and ideas off.
I bet I know why… because it's supposed to be scientific-looking. 🙂 Imperial units here in the States are mainly used in construction and manufacturing type stuff. Anything science or academia related tends to be metric.
So what is the measurement Du-jour in England now? I heard Miles are still preferred and I see people say yards when talking about land distances. So you still use inches in the smaller scale?
That’s nothing compared to my 3.41 m k’nex tower.
I made one that's 11.6 feet
I take this as a challenge to build a larger one wih the superior metric system

Civilised measurements!

What is your problem with metrics. It is more sensible.
Inch is a rural unit I dont know why are some countries insisting to use it.
hate it, as bad as stickle bricks and less classic that the terrible tinkertoy, i was a lego kid..

Thank the lord k'nex took a measuring system that makes sense! Imperial is the gross one Julian :b!
Why are you complaining about metric? You always measure wavelengths to the metric metre…

I'm a Lego man, myself.
Now rig up that tower to some LED's, connect to an Arduino through some relays and make something WOW! 😀
