Six BP Pulse 50kW rapid EV chargers at this site in Bletchley. All eleven parking spaces were occupied by ICE vehicles, or EVs that weren't charging, when I visited during the week.
During another visit on a Sunday, most of the chargers were working and accessible.

Hello I'm here in Bletchley just south of Milton Keynes near the bus station because there's an awesome electric vehicle charging Hub which looks like it's reasonably new. Just been put in here in a car park near the bus station. So here we have six of these: BP Pulse semi-rapid Chargers these are all 50 kilowatt posts they have CCS They have Chadamo and they also have Type 2 AC cables. One of the charges is out of use and one of them up here is actually iced.

There's a Citroen C3 Picasso non-electric part in one of the parking spaces and this is me. Um, I'm getting a charge I'm going to take it all the way up to 80 I'm on the end charger right next to the big green box of electrical stuff. And even better, this is a free car park. There are no restrictions here, don't seem to be any time limits so you can sit here charging as long as you want.

Um, this is Albert Street North Car Park Central Bletchley long stay So this seems like a really impressive, useful semi-rapid EV Charging hub but I'm here on a Sunday don't bother coming during the week. so I came here last Thursday um I think it was and almost every space was iced. There was one electric car he'd finished charging. There was also another electric car which was branded using some of the branding that the adjacent construction site is using and the car was parked in a bay but it wasn't actually plugged in and charging.

and there were also a couple of Builders Vans here which I suspect were also linked with the building site next door. It's a pretty small car park. There's probably space for about a hundred cars here, and it's obviously a very popular car park. It was completely full by one space last Thursday and I Think that part of the problem is that this car park is free and you can park here as long as you want.

The other problem is signage. Although BP have got their electric vehicle recharging Point signs here. There's nothing to say that you can't park an internal combustion engine vehicle here. There are no implied penalties and so the construction site workers who obviously get here very early parking in those spaces aren't actually doing anything wrong.

So I'll insert some footage here, which I shot last Thursday But I've got to be careful because at least one chap said he didn't want to be filmed. But here's some stuff: I shot during the week: Bay One electric car not plugged in Bay to iced Bay Three iced B4 Electric vehicle has finished charging Bay Five iced Basics Iced base seven iced Bay Eight iced van parked in an electric charging space Bay Whatever, it is iced. So what looks like a brand new EV charging hub where you can't charge your EV Well, I certainly can't because I was going to use one of these BP Pulse Chargers But uh, no, no can do so. There's no payment here, so it's it's full.

It's completely full. There was one space left when I got it and I took that space. However, next door is another car park. now.

this one looks like it might have been a pain display, but at the moment they've got permit parking only. So is this intended for perhaps parking for the construction workers? and uh, the general public can't park here because that would take up all of the space. But there's masses of space here, so it's being massively underutilized. Once again, here, there's a lot of construction going on.
If you're wondering where this place is, it's adjacent to the bus station. So how nonsensical is this? Uh, 650 kilowatt rapid charging? Uh posts I mean this is a proper EV charging Hub but there's not one EV that's actually charging here. So all in all, this is an excellent electric vehicle charging. Hub here in Bletchley Um, but I would say until Bletchley Council or Milton Keynes Council get some penalty signs up here to stop the icing and also while the adjacent construction site is being built I'd Avoid weekdays and come here at the weekend.

Cheerio.

So, electric car owners think they are entitled to other people's money on tax credit buying the car. Entitled to free electricity to fuel their vehicle and entitled to free parking space too.

What I don't understand is why don't people just use hybrids…. they're the best of both worlds and there's now new ones being developed by small private companies that can run of old cooking on and alsondiesel and also ethanol… and are also electric hybrids…. it seems as tho the state is there just to takeout taxes andtake us for a ride… THE GOVERNMENT/STATE IS JUST A BIG PONZI SCHEME

How about ICE vehicle only parking bays. Seems unfair to have bays for EV's only. Especially when free parking is so hard to find nowadays with councils turning most of the public roads into Pay and Display and many parking spots also taken over by EV charging bays. 🤨

I know that area reasonably well. the permit half of the carpark is for residents of that fetching tower block adjacent.

Welp, I guess ya not a local to Milton Keynes and Bletchley?
I press play and was like "The bus stop and the Soviet blue blocc!!! I know that place way too well"
Now to watch the video and noticed you mention in description you're in Bletchley at time of recording.

I can guess about what you'll be talking about, but shall watch now.
Maybe I should do a video of the bus EV charging and how I suspect they work…

Mate your adversarial and pejorative use of the word "iced" while complaining about construction vehicles parked in a free spot and not breaking any of the rules screams "busybody with nothing better to do than bothering people getting stuff done"

The essence of the story is its a car park for cars / vans. NOT a dedicated electric vehicle car park or charging park nor should it be !! The holier than thou approach of electric vehicle owners is starting to get ridiculous. Im hope im still alive when the fad and real data on the cost / impact of these battery buggies becomes apparent.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars M C says:

Electric vehicle ownership is not only expensive (high cost of vehicle and high cost of electricity to charge it) but also, it seems, owning an EV is so much of a hassle to keep it charged.
