Nobody needs another 16x2 LCD Arduino tutorial, so this isn't one. Here I take a look at a few other display alternatives including the ultra-cheap 84x48 pixel Nokia 5110 LCD, the teeny-weeny 128x64 pixel OLED and the 8x8 cascadable LED dot matrix modules. Individual videos on each type will follow.

Thank you. Those OLED displays are so ridiculously small.. Thank god I did not buy any them ๐Ÿ˜‰

You can hook on of the 1.9in color lcd to a rpi and play arcade games on it. It is a funny party game when everyone is sloshed and trying to watch them play pacman!:)

I need to interface a sony k310 display with arduino, can it be possible?

There are cheap SPI TFTs as well.

Great Stuff!!! Many thanks. I especially liked the comparison of memory between the OLED, and Nokia. Not your intent, but I presume the memory requirements for the 16X2 LCD is nominal. I have found that these factors become important when stretching embedded devices to their limits when all one wants to do is to display… data. And thanks for all of your other video's that I've seen. One beauty of your work is showing the roadblocks and how they become resolved.

great idea ! would you be so kind as to do part 2 and show the 5110 and then next larger, whatever you can drive with the 328 chip (UNO/NANO/MINI) I have heard some are slow, but with no referece to what that means. love to see how much memory each would take.

Prices have gone down a lot. And cheaper that ebay most of the time is aliexpress. That oled is about 3.50โ‚ฌ and Nokia 5110 is about 1.80โ‚ฌ

Very interesting look at the different displays out there. I'm guessing they could also be used with other microcontrollers such as PIC.

Also this one: 320×240 RGB with touch screen – quite cheap. eBay item 400417743247. This could be a long series of videos, but I have to start somewhere!

Here's yet another one: a 2.8" TFT color display for Arduino. Ebay item 370803691094

There's also a Nokia 6100 LCD for Arduino: ebay item 251282940612

Yeah, the 5110 display probably has the best price/pixel count ratio of all at the moment. But it doesn't take long to run out of space. I guess you could have two of them side by side.
