You said about not wanting mains close to your fingers on the old soldering iron… Any legit iron should have the tip connected to the CPC (earth) so safe. 100% worth checking though.
Never tried a low voltage iron, very keen to give it a go though. I'm curious how it compares to my Weller

Your wire strippers look exactly like the knipex ones

It's actually 0.156" pitch, an ancient standard. They used to me used for early Commodore and Apple accessory ports.

I was trying not to have a heart attack watching you cut that A/V cable towards your finger! I half expected to see a bandage on it in the next frame!

I used to buy the stuff you ordered, well much of it years ago, but when Workers Comp decided that I was retired and cut my paycheck in half, a loss of over one thousand bucks US per month, the constant stream of Chinese packages quickly ended, well slowed to a trickle of less then 10 per month. Years ago, when I was in the Army, I used to tell my buddies that I was so damn broke I couldn't even pay attention! Well that does apply today. Now there is a matter of a damn motor home sitting in my back yard that I will be paying about 500 a month for till I am about 80 if I don't get rid of her, to bad to because it is nicer then our house, which is paid for, thank God. Thanks for the videos though, I still get a thrill from the knife on plastic that I used to enjoy so very much. Now if I get one, it is usually accompanied by a stern disapproval glare from my good wife of 50 years! This followed by a Marge Simpson like mutter under her breath as she walks to the kitchen.

Just remember that if they are true video/audio cables, the video cable has a different impedance from the audio cables.

For when your Breadboard needs a Breadboard…???

You Are AWESOME Julian!! So glad I discovered you some years ago. I did get my Breadboard Arduino working. I bought a USB interface that was different than yours and it would only upload a sketch once, UNLESS I waited. Figured out it needed a pull down resistor from the reset pin (DTR; AFTER the cap, to ground, in parallel. I used what I had for a resistor on hand; 220K. I am sure lower values would also work). Now I can download until the cows come home! I figured it out myself but with your teachings to guide me! 🙂 Cheerio.

With 3.96mm being 0.156", it would appear that 5/32" was a standard at some point in the past. As they say, the best thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

The pushpins should be pushed down when you push in the wire… You only have to push them in to remove the wire.

They don't have to send you a VAT invoice unless you are a business…

Finally a way to quickly insert wires into a breadboard 😉
