I bought a load of the first conector sockets and they are crap, they broke the male jacks plugs.

Man the price on these has gone through the roof, I picked one up about 4 years ago, still have it new in the box, perhaps I will try and resell her, I think I paid 12 bucks for her back then, I have only powered her up a couple of times, so I guess she isn't new but nearly so. Anyhow this is the deal for Groove.

What about using two Li-ion batteries in series for powering the Arduino? Smaller and cheaper.
Funny, I ordered those same connectors a couple of months ago, and mine seemed very tight as well! Glad I'm not the only one
The barrel jacks will loosen up a little bit, but not a lot. It's comfortably tight for me now.

Tighter is better! They ware out fast enough, so ya, Tighter is better!
Why do you love so much these small batteries? I know that you are a solar cell fan, but from that voltage, which you store in your rechargeable batteries, you can produce any required voltage. And you also like switching power converters, so you have the necessary devices too.
