you can print your own scale cards on the computer, then change the resistor on the shunt to alter the scale,
i ordered a center zero 100 ua meter for a detector, but they sent a 10 ua instead so i re-calibrated it, then printed a scale card for the face, there is a resistor calculator on the net for ammeters.
That UV glue really seems to have worked well. Will it yellow in time? Only Time will tell. 😉

if your worried about lightning strikes for ac midnight solar has wire in modules for that if concerned for low voltage application look for the gas arrestor types like the ones used in the telephone exchanges have 3 legs like a "t" shape similar to a thick coaxial diode with a wire band around the middle and a tap coming off of that
Board delamination means that the copper peels off the board, not the fiberglass layers themselves….

Pretty sure the general family of center zero analog meters are known as 'Null Meters'. Eons ago null type ammeters were common in cars… in a way wish they still were; along with a complementary idiot light… or better still a complementary volt meter & idiot light. One big time disadvantage of the old automotive ammeters was the need for long, large gauge high amperage wiring run to the instrument panel; or to have an external shunt somewhere. A lot of quick troubleshooting could be done with those ammeters… but for the most part the general public didn't understand or care about them; and they went the way of Max Headroom. Sad to say it, but big bright idiot lights really are the best option for the masses…
