    I also use those brass knurled nuts in 3D printed projects. They save the plastic and provide a positive metal connection to screw into.

    Probably find the aluminium is corroded too, you get a galvanic reaction between steel and aluminium; brass will react with aluminium too, stainless steel generally doesn't.
