An ambitious attempt to hear the effect of phase cancellation by adjacent multiple feedback bandpass filters summed together in a mixer circuit. Exploding capacitors didn't help.

Update: I fitted all 16 tantalum capacitors (on the proto boards) the wrong way round :/

I kept on waiting for the tone sweep generator…

Great project to share your knowledge and experiment but i cant help thinking it's alot of work to end up with a microphone effect. I might have missed the bigger picture though.
Great! I love that real electronic vocoder, i love to hear it in your video's about that built, the working of the filters and such things you only get really clear when you hear them! Great that you built this real vocoder ánd let us enjoy it with you!
Are you aware of the dangers of Tantalum capacitors? Exposure by skin contact, ingestion, and inhalation may cause respiratory problems and skin and eye irritation.
This was utterly pointless.
Why no JLPCB for the filters for this project ? any reason ?
Something seems to disappear…audience? 🤣
Julian Illett – the inventor of the light emitting capacitor. 😉
If you can see darkness, then yes, you can hear deep holes.
You turned that cap into an LED. 😂 Phase cancellation seems like a cool idea for low shelf and high shelf filtering but we'd be using it if really were perhaps. Still seems like a nifty idea to study.
An ‘Audio Spectrum Analyzer’ could be handy on such audio filters. Also you could install a Function Generator on your phone (android has such apps) for White, Pink Or Brown noise along with sine, square, triangle waveforms that's super handy in such circuits.
