Are those tantalum caps on that module? I wonder if you could get the same timing with smaller caps and larger resistors. it would probably shrink the circuit a bit.
It's nice to see these work in progress -type videos during the build.
Hot glue gun plugged into a power meter for monitoring when it's hot enough is also a handy trick! No need to squeeze the trigger every five seconds.

It didn't appear you had drill torque set to drill. On front of drill there's the ring with numbers and usually a drill symbol, set it to drill and maybe get through easier. The numbers are for using on screws.

shame you didn't use your pic project to control the led's. The F628 (F84 who uses this still?) could multiplex at least 90 leds direct drive and the code would be simple. search for "Charlieplexing"
