An impulse buy - Florabest 36V Lithium-ion cordless lawnmower. The 36V 2600mAh 93.6Wh battery contains 20 cells, so they must be 1300mAh per cell. The mower has a brushless motor.

Mine is still running in 2021. I purchased a second Mac Allister battery which is the same. Spear and Jackson also have a 4Ah battery that fits so about to order that!

I have a small qualcast cordless that I bought about three years ago, my lawn area is about a third of yours and I can it 4 to 5 times on one charge. Would I go back to petrol, absolutely not, mine is so light and easy to manoeuvre and takes up far less space in my shed

Its because it’s cheaper to use lower ah cells and double them than use cells that can take a higher c rating 🙂 it’s the same for all 18650 packs that’s why the bigger packs are a cheaper comparatively to the small packs because the cells aren’t being stressed as much because they can have more in parallel

With a 43Ah car battery you could mow much, much longer.

fwiw there are also 40 and 80 Volt lithium powered mowers on the market under the greenworks brand… maybe I'm a bit timid but 80 V DC seems a little bit scarily high, especially for outdoor use. The 80 V mower claims 60 minutes run time and 60 minute charge time which would of course allow near continuous use if it's true.
The idea is the same battery can be used across several tools from the same company which would prevent people accumulating a shedful of incompatible batteries and of course the battery is a significant part of the cost here.

Identical batteries are available on Ebay with the name (Mac Allister MB3626-LI) and a charger as well thrown in. Brand new surplus stock boxed unopened priced between £30-40. These will also fit into the Qualcast 36v cordless lawnmower. A great bargain.

You can buy an electric lawn mower like this and a corresponding line trimmer of the same brand, then use the two battery packs interchangeably.
