An island that is always sunny in the Med? Can't be Cyprus as when we were there (1957-1960.) we had all types of weather. Sunny, rain, snow, firebombs, bullets, and heat. So my guess would be Malta for the better weather.

You can't parallel diodes and expect the current to share equally between them, as the one with the lowest characteristic voltage will hog the lions share of the current. Unless you include equalising resistors but this then worsens the voltage drop situation even more of course. The only time you can get away with it is when you've got a double diode on the same substrate. These tend to share the current far more evenly.

Julian can you make a video about ripple. How to smooth you dc output form the pwm. When the pwm is variable between 0-5V?
Why do you want to make the GumStick smaller and hence approaching unserviceable?
It is currently a good size that can be safely probed as it is.
