You have a lot of elections and all but you need more tool. I am lucky because my dad had a lifetime of collecting tools but I have bought a decent amount myself

    What a waste of time.

Hi, any chance to show us how you connected the solar and the turbine together? Can they work at the same time charging the same set of batteries? Any chance we can get any info on this aspect please?

you ain't getting nothing out of that thing by the looks of it?

Hi Julian sir. Could you sell me the turbine in your video pls .

Cool video – I grew up on an old farm that was miles from almost everywhere. When the REA (rural electrical association) came through putting electricity on all the farms, dad didn't have the money to wire the house so we never hooked up. Used to drive us kids wild that there was power on that damn pole in the yard but not on the farm. Dad did mechanical work on the side, and to charge batteries, he had an old wind-charger with some glass battery jars that somehow held a charge I guess, I was quite young when that was in use. Any how he did have one bulb in the garage that was on when the wind blew, which was nearly all the time here on the Dakota Prairies. Sort of takes me back to those days.

would it be possible to use the turbine as a motor?

Why not try to make it run as a vertical wind turbine.

I know you usually lean towards solar panels, but have you done anything about setting of wind turbines as a free electricity source?

as a factoid, in big wind turbines, there are no slip rings around the yaw axis, there are wires, they can turn twice and then the control system has to do a cable untwisting operation. Actually the turbine spends most of the time in the same direction.

Could not see the coils properly but it seems that it's 3 phase 6 or 8 pole motor. 36 slots where the wires go. And there's no copper coils in the rotor. You would have seen them if there were any. Close up in different angle would be nice so I could determine that if it's 6 or 8 pole.

I just happen to rewind motors for a living and it's so rare to see motors on youtube.

I'm sure a man of your skills could convert it to being a 3 blade V.A.W.T. as a project. That way it wouldn't need to be so high ๐Ÿ™‚

Don't forget to put never seize on the threads, when you put it back together ! Hang onto those screws !

The generator bearing assembly looks same as in electric motors, so most likely the bearing is press fit onto the shaft. A lot of times it is quite a challenge to get it off.

Julian, Please stick to matters electronic where you continue to inform and entertain.
Your treatment of mechanical items makes me anxious.
