I can't find the Ravpower teardown video :-/

With pins marked SD_D0 through SD_D3, I'd expect those to be intended for use in reading or writing an SD card in parallel mode. If that's what they're for, then that's rather an advanced function for a microcontroller since you normally only see programs using serial mode for SD card communication.

I have that power bank too but it didn't even survive the washing machine

I bought two 22400mAh power banks (EC Technology) from amazon, 12.99 pounds each. Contains 8 2800mAh 18650 cells. So thast 1.625GBP per cell, excellent price in my opinion, and the thing actually charged and iPad Air almost two times, so the actual capacity is at least 80% of what the claim.

Please by all means do the follow up on these SDK/ Test ESP8266 boards.
Learning this new Lua script for those that are just beginning Arduino IDE, is a rather handful 🙂

Thanks for this Julian. I have both test boards but like yourself prefer the ESP201 (White) based card. I have been able access the device using USB (via a terminal) 9600 8-N-1. Was able to connect it to my Wifi using AT commands. And based on clues from posts below was able to flash firmware to latest version of nodeMCU using ESP8266Flasher by putting dip switch R to on, and pressing switch 2 whilst powering up device. Final part of the puzzle is how to control the embedded devices. Main thing I wish to do is control the mains relay and read data from the DHT11. If you or anyone else reading this can help please get in touch. Regards, Phil.

Hello please could you upload the manual "EMC Technology esp8266 tester series documentation" found a manual with a Android application in Chinese but got good results.
    Thank You.

Julian have you reviewed the Lenmar Helix 11000 mAh 3 USB Port Power Bank?  It's nearly impossible to charge!  Have you run into that problem with the bigger units?  I just got this today at Frys and it came mostly run down. It only had 2 lights on when I pressed the button so I put it on a 2A charger for my tablet. It gets hot but never charges up, the green light just flashes for hours and that's all. Tried another charger but still nothing. I had to use a charger capable of putting out 4 Amps! Why they say in the directions you can use the USB port on a PC to charge a unit having 11000 Mah batteries I don't know but it's a lie.

Hey Julian. Happy Easter to you. My ESP201 board has arrived and I'm wondering in when the next tutorial is going to happen. Have completed the ESP01 toggle project and sitting at the starting line eagerly awaiting the next set of instructions.

Having a lot of confusion with the DHT code and getting it to run. What do you have planned? I'm hoping to see how you activate the other IO OUTPUTS.

    LUA is the way forward

Thanks for getting me this far

Got my server running on the white board now, controlling two LEDs over the local network using GPIO 0 and GPIO 2. I am using some code I found on the web, now I have to figure out how to read that temp and humidity, or find someone who has already done that as well.. I LOVE this board!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry Ericsson says:

Playing around, found I can talk to the 8266 when it is booted with the R dip switch on. I can flash by holding down switch #2 when turning on.

Got my little white board to flash lua on my ESP8266 03, now trying to get it to report to thingspeak with temp and humidity from the DHT11 that I plugged in the proper way after watching you smoke yours.  Those videos are so helpful, silly Chinese not putting a polarity on the DHT11 device, of for that matter the tester itself. oh documents would be nice unless they are like the ones that came with the older test board.  I have two different copies of that and neither are what I would call readable by anyone who learned to read in the 1950's as I did.

Have you figured out exactly how to talk with the esp8266 on that board?  Would be nice to be able to access the data from the temp/humidity etc as well as use the relay for switching on lights etc.   I tried jumping 3.3V to Chip on the motherboard but to no avail.  I played with the dips and found they work fine for all the lights (5) and the relay.
