The boxes would be perfect for storing breadboard cables. Storing resistors is a known problem for me too…

Those boxes looks like they would be great for storing breadboard jumpers

buy a binder and some "baseball card" clear plastic pages and store you're resistors like that! it's the cheapest and easiest way to organize resistors/diodes/etc …you get 9 values per page "at a glance" and can find what you need fast and put away stuff organized even faster! it'll cost you less than $5 to get a ton of baseball card pages and a binder…for bigger things like electrolytics get full page "picture" pockets…both types are top loading and you can store the binder standing up or make little scotch tape tabs to seal up the individual compartments if you want something to throw around and to store in a drawer or flat….hope that helps! I'm suck of hearing about your resistor storage problems hahaha

The curious bin shape of the plastic bins is to accommodate the treble hook on some fishing lures. This type hook looks like a three-pronged, miniature grappling hook. One prong rides in the center trough, forcing the other two to stay in place above. The design helps to prevent tangled hooks and pricked fingers.

My method for storing resistors is to use 2 large zip up CD folders, that allow for 2 values per page (24 pages per volume). I just marked the value on each pocket with a permanent marker. In each pocket I store all the resistors in little zip lock baggies that are also marked. I do the same for caps in an even larger version of the same.

    Awesome my friend.

Fishing tackle boxes work nicely, but I also recommend using a cross stitch thread/embroidery floss organizer.

Ironically enough, I realized both would be good for my electronics projects while I was learning how to cross stitch. 😉

Hey Julian, I'm curious about the cost of the new USB 3.1 versus 3.0 and 2.0. I tried looking around, but couldn't find anything because I don't know what to search for… But what would be the difference in costs for the USB modules themselves? I'd like to know from a manufacturing standpoint.

Pharmacies in the U.S. sell small, heavy weight zip lock bags that are about three inches wide by two inches deep for storing a day's supply of pills. They're cheap (about $2 for fifty or so) transparent, resealable, and will hold forty or fifty resistors. After using a resistor in a breadboard circuit, you can drop it back in your bag of like resistors. Sort the bags by value and store them in a recipe box or similar container.

Hello there, I wonder what the voltage drop of that 10 foot cable is when pulling 500mah could you test that?

Are FTDI still in business? They didn't make many friends with that one.

I love you Julian! For some reason I haven't been able to find a "thick" USB extension cable as they most certainly are more rugged.. And here you come, serving me on a silver platter, a perfect USB extension cable that I just have to order =D

    Thank you! =D

oh.. Great video as always! =D Keep up the great work, always fun to watch your videos! =)

After you said about resistor storage in a previous video I bought some plastic take away containers like you get your chinese in. The beauty of them is 100 loose resistors small caps so on they still stack inside each other. I just stuck an empty 1 to my bench out of the way and they takeup no room. £1 for 8
    🙂

Yea the cases were a bit of a downer when you have to hack a hack to make them work, but the 10 foot usb for 2 bucks and free shipping! Wow, what's next from China, we bye them and they will pay us to use it! haha It was not long ago I paid 5 dollars for a cable and 10 dollars to ship it. Times have changed. Thanks for sharing.

Poundland sometimes have small plastic cases (10 inches square) with internal dividers so those may suit you more.
