This clever little device went bang shortly after I bought it. The manufacturer was really helpful and sent me a bag of parts so that I could fix it myself. One of the MOSFETs had gone short circuit and blown the little 5 amp fuse, but also taken out one winding of the choke. I replaced all the bits and also added another fuse. This 1.6 amp fuse is fine for 300W at 240 volts and should protect the choke if another semiconductor should fail.

I also put little stick on rubber feet between each diode/mosfet and the metal battens that hold them against the heatsink. This results in much more even pressure on each device and allows them to sit completely flat against the heatsink.

I would be fearful those rubber feet would get hard and brittle with heat over time, and fall apart… leaving nothing to keep pressure against the TO220 parts. I'd recommend silicone pads, like sometimes used for heatsinks… but 1-2mm thick ones… silicone won't be affected by heat.

Not sure – I've not done any work on wind turbine GTIs

    hi ok there?

    i have a 500W 24V wind turbine and i bough a 22-60V grid tie inverter.

but the GTI can't make the grid connection.
just a few energy was supplied on the grid.

what do you suggest me to do?

    thanks pal.

Let's hope it is more reliable than the current range of GTIs that they are making. The MOSFETS on mine lasted just under one month. Seems like a very unreliable bit of kit. I wouldn't want to trust them with another purchase myself.

Hello could you help me out with my big 3000w PJ GTI its hooked to a 3000w array it used to put out over 1000w but is now down to 300w.I have added 5 500w GTIS since it stopped .I would like to fix it though .any ideas how to get parts.THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.TAKE CARE

hi, i have the 300w model and i had it hooked up to my windmill. I guess one day the voltage got the best of it because i forgot to put a voltage regulator on it. After that it stopped working completely. It locks up my windmill even in high wind. What could the issue be? I was just playing with it a few minute ago with a small 10 watt panel and i had my meter hooked up to watch the voltage. Inside the house, i was getting 9 volts, and when i hooked it up to the inverter it dropped to .5v

@julius256 Sorry I misclicked and made a Vote Down.

I also have a Power Jack 300 Watt Grid Tie Inverter, which blew after 45 minutes of use. I detected, using a multimeter, that Mosfet P75…, Mosfet P1250…, F1 fuse 230v 5A and F2 fuse 20A were blown. Power Jack were kind enough to send replacements, which I soldered on. The unit ran for less than a minute and blew Fuse F1 and the new P1350… mosfet on Q11. Now I'm suspecting the doubel coil as you mention on your video. How do I test the double coil ? Kind regards EskimoJan

Hey all, Exciting news… Power jack has just released a 1200w Grid tie with LCD that looks very nice.. Looks like a very good package for the price. Supposedly shipping 1st of July. Do a search for '1200w Grid Tie LCD' on the pupular auction site. Interestingly, this inverter doesn't appear yet on the PJ website. Think I might buy it..

Yeah, I connect 3, 35ah batteries in series and it would only output 500 watts….and it didn't sound happy! whining and getting hot!

Did they give you a schematic? I have a 600W GT PJ. Max power out is about 500w…less than 80% eff. The power cord is VERY hot above 300w output…way to light. They do work but my guess is you should size them at 2x your PV requirment.

    @JPFall1
    Very good article.
The article relates to a standard inverter, rather than their Grid connect units, but I do see some similarities in the way the Fets & diodes are mounted.
