Not merely microscopic nor nano-sized, this PCB is way smaller than that. Even pico-scale doesn't adequately describe this printed circuit board. It's the PWM5 Femto 🙂
Apologies for the low frequency background noise - caused by my Ryobi fan.

I live on a yacht. I had to mount plastic hatches which leaked….why mention this? It turns out, all plastic has a film which glue will not stick to long term. If you are going to silastic wires in, you need to use Acetone to clean the wires where you want the silastic to stick to. Otherwise, the surface tension of water will sneak between the silicone and the sheath on the wire.

Idea is good, but compact info in 10 min would be better. This was too long..

why not use DPAK instead of TO220? it will fit properli and will look good too

Hi, you need to move away from that sillycone! The best way would be to use that piece of pipe as a carrier and vacuum pot your module in it with the wires coming out from one side! This way there is no air bubbles or infact no void for moisture ingress! Also to pot the wires in would add to the mechanical strength e.g. someone stands on a wire then it would not pull out of the module.Get in touch if you want some ideas of how to construct a simple vacuum chamber for this application… RL Labs Ltd.

Why not just coat them in clear resin? Or even clear nail polish?

On the silicone sealant, I suggest smearing the inside of the plastic sleeve in Vaseline or silicone grease before filling with sealant, then you don't have to use wd40 (unpleasant)

Nice project. You shoulda used JLC's offer to duplicate your board to fill a 100mm x 100mm panel. I figure you could get 3 x 7 = 21 boards per panel. So what do you do with 210 littgle boards? How about a Patreon giveaway!

Wouldn't epoxy resin be better for sealing the boards?

Hello did anyone notice the schematic error? The source of the fet is going to positive voltage. Is this just a oversight goof or am I not correct?

Very nicely done, Julian. Now for the crusher: Why, when the world is screaming for the efficiency of MPPT technology, did you do a PWM controller? (OK, I'm going to your MPPT playlist right now.) [ducks out, grinning madly]

Nice design! I've had good luck with boards manufactured by JLCPCB. I have a couple designs right now that use 0805 components. I prefer to use 2206, but sometimes what I want is either not available in the larger size or the price is way more than the 805 package. I did acquire a stereo microscope, so that's a learning curve as well. And I bought a micro soldering iron. It's a brave new world!

If you use silicone to pot the boards, make sure to use a neutral cure silicon, since acid-curing ones will destroy the board over time (it eats the tracks)

…I got to the point where this thing was almost completely rooted.. 🤣
