How did you get what you refer to as the "front seal" off? I need to replace the glass on mine & can't get it apart.

    Is there LM2621 on board?

outstanding breakdown! I am greatly pleased at how well the internals look to have been put together! I have 4 TN4A's all of which are incredible. I once threw one over twenty feet while on turbo into a creek. It kept on cranking.

I know you put this up over a year ago but would you happen to know the size of the driver board?

4xAA good choice given that 10,000+mAh D cells are so difficult to get hold of.

My guess for the reflector is that it was stamped and milled to shape. Polished afterwards.

I think I prefer the Jetbeam PA40 formfactor for a 4 AA battery torch, even if it is half the brightness.. it's plenty, although the battery indicator light always seems to flash in high power mode even if my eneloops are fully charged.. Also the switch is a bit finnicky, sometimes 'double' clicks when you push it which means it changes modes.. grr. You know I have so many torches and you know which my favorite is? The $8 "sipik" clone torch, it's a tiny single AA torch, with a little 'zoom' feature.. it's such a neat torch. I bought heaps a while ago ended up giving most away to friends!

It does make sense to have a thermistor on the emitter board and coupled with the micro it could monitor the temperature and adjust the output if things get too hot because of their turbo mode.

What are your thoughts on the XP-L V6 emitter? Is it better than the XM-L2 T6?

Easy watching as always. Thanks. It might be an idea to mention the price of the reviewed items!

How do you install the switch seal?

But the PIC in the torch has date code 1433, so much very recent. Microchip are (in)famous for supporting old chips almost forever, which some of their customers require. So it's not surprising that it's still in production. It's likely Thrunite just selected a suitable PIC without caring how old it was.

The microcontrollers on some of the driver boards are hackable. I don't know if this is, but you can get downloadable firmware for some driver boards where you can choose what modes are available.
