I think it is intended to prevent the edge of the phone from hitting the axle's rotation mount

Hi Julian. Great video, i recently brought one of these product. I've noticed that when I'm charging, the green light starts to flickering constantly, is that normal. Not sure if it should do that..Would be nice to get your thoughts on this. Thanks

The reason it is hard to swing out the arm is because you didn't loosen the thumbscrew first.

When you see a thumbscrew, whether on a mic stand, a collapsible canopy, a camera tripod, a telescope, a transit, or anywhere, it needs to be loosened prior to movement of whatever it is holding in place, then tightened when in the desired position.

Moving things while thumbscrews are tight wear out the ability of the thumbscrew to do its job at a very accelorated rate. Repeated non-loosening of thumbscrews when moving things is why mic stands slowly drop down during performances, telescopes drift, cameras with big lenses on tripods nose-down right before the critical remote trigger shot, etc.

When you see the sound guy wince when talent on stage adjusts the mic stand without loosening the thumbscrews/levers now you know why. And also why I winced when watching your vid! 😀 I always cheer to myself when I see a performer use the thumbscrews when adjusting the mic stand. It really brightens my day.

I think this is more junk than useful gadget. I does have some parts inside that look worth salvaging.

I thought these things all used brushless motors.
